Heffner Ford GT1000TT wins Car and Driver supercar challenge

Car and Driver is out with another supercar challenge. This time in the form of a zero to 200mph (and back to zero) battle.

..thanks to advances in electronics and turbocharging, several companies today claim to produce modified production cars with 1000 and more horsepower that run on 93-octane pump gas and are civilized enough for everyday driving. To prove this seemingly preposterous notion, we gathered five speed sleds — four tuned cars and one production unit. The severely souped-up entries are a Ford GT, a Dodge Viper, a Chevrolet Corvette Z06, and a Lamborghini Gallardo. The lone production car is the most powerful domestic available, the 750-hp Saleen S7 Twin Turbo.

THE WINNER: Heffner Ford GT1000TT
Power (C/D est): 1098 bhp @ 6600 rpm
Torque (C/D est): 911 lb-ft @ 5900 rpm
Street drivability: 4 stars
Zero to 200 mph: 18.9 sec
ΒΌ-mile: 10.6 sec @ 152 mph
0 to 200 to 0 mph braking: 1089 feet
Total time, 0 to 200 to 0 mph: 26.5 sec

It’s unfortunate that the 1100hp Lingenfelter Corvette Z06 Twin Turbo wasn’t able to finish.

Here’s some video of the car in question:
